Celebrate Louis Armstrong & Satchmo SummerFest’s 20th Anniversary

By Gardner Realtors | July 27, 2020

Louis Armstrong isn’t just one of the greatest musicians from New Orleans, he is one of the most important musicians people in the history of all music! Armstrong changed the way the world thought about music, and he was called “the single most important figure in the history of jazz” by Billboard magazine. He pioneered “scat” music, a new way of improvising instead of just playing the notes on a sheet of music and he literally took his “singing” style of trumpet playing to the world as a “musical ambassador” for the U.S. State Department. Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong overcame poverty to change the world as we know it, and he is worth celebrating each and every year.

This year, Satchmo SummerFest, like most things, will look a lot different. But that doesn’t mean it will be any less fun! “Seven Days of Satch” will take place July 27 – August 2, marking the 20th anniversary of this local favorite and will be a virtual celebration of all things Louis. Like all good New Orleans festivals, there will be plenty of good food, good music, and lots to learn about our great culture.
